Sturridge keen to improve

Daniel Sturridge is confident that joining Chelsea from Manchester City will help him fulfil his ambitions in the game. Big-spending Man City hope to become a major force in English and European football over the next few years and will feel they can challenge for a top-four finish this season. However, Sturridge believes he has made the right decision to come to a club that is already regularly competing for honours. The 19-year-old is particularly looking forward to playing in the UEFA Champions League and feels he will be able to improve at Stamford Bridge. "My main motivation was to play in the Champions League," he explained. "I am very ambitious and want to push myself to the highest level and play with the best in the world. I believe I can achieve big things at Chelsea. "I am very young and I will be very patient because there are world-class players here. I am not going to get too upset if I am not playing because I know it is a long season and a lot of games. "I want to win as many trophies as I can. I am not saying Man City have not got ambitions for the Champions League or for any competition but the main thing for me was to come to Chelsea to better me as a player. "I will become a man here. The likes of John Terry will push me on to become a better player." Competition for places will be fierce but Sturridge expects to get plenty of chances and thinks he can go on to play for England. "Hopefully as the season goes on I will get the opportunities and show the fans what abilities I have," he said. "Any player who is at a big club will believe they can push themselves to get into the England squad. "Hopefully by coming here I can get an opportunity to get into the full England squad and push myself to be the best I can."
