Steve Gohouri signs new Wigan deal and vows to beat Didier Drogba 11-months after beating malaria

Steve Gohouri has signed a two-year deal with Wigan and is set to face Ivory Coast teammate Didier Drogba at Stamford Bridge on Sunday just 11 months after recovering from a life-threatening bout of tropical malaria.[LNB]Gohouri contracted the disease after a game against Cameroon in June and fell ill while on holiday in St Tropez. 'I was really ill.' [LNB]Gohouri, who started out as a strike partner to Manchester United defender Patrice Evra in French junior football, has been playing for Wigan as a free agent after leaving Borussia Moenchengladbach.[LNB]He can do his old friend a favour by stopping Chelsea and Drogba from winning the title on Sunday.[LNB]'If Drogba doesn't score against Wigan then I know I will have done my job,' said Gohouri.[LNB]'I've spoken to him since I came here but I haven't been able to contact Patrice.
