Steaua Bucharest defender Vlad Chiriches is attracting interest from Chelsea

Steaua Bucharest defender Vlad Chiriches' agent claims his client is drawing admiring glances from Chelsea.

The Romania international was said to be a summer transfer target for Barcelona, before seeing out the transfer window in his homeland. It is, however, expected that interest will be shown in January, when clubs are free to bolster their ranks. Chelsea are among those to have expressed an early interest in the 22-year-old, but they would face competition for Chiriches' signature from Italy were they to make a move.

"I can confirm that AC Milan are looking at the player," Chiriches' representative Viktor Becali told calciomercato.com.

"Milan's sporting director (Ariedo) Braida has seen him play several times both for the national team and for his club team.

"There is nothing concrete yet, though, and it is too early to say what will happen.

"I don't know if he could leave in January, it will depend on the offers which may arrive when the market opens.

"There are many clubs interested in Chiriches - Chelsea, Inter Milan and Zenit - but there is nothing concrete in place as yet."
