Leyton Orient have signed Jimmy Smith on a free transfer from Chelsea following an impressive loan spell. Smith finished last season on loan at Orient and the midfielder scored once in 16 appearances for the League One club. He has now agreed a two-year contract to join on a permanent basis and Os boss Geraint Williams is happy with his latest recruit. "We're delighted to welcome Jimmy back to the club," Williams told the club's official website. "He had a big part to play in our successful end to last season, so it's great that he has signed a permanent deal with us. "It also shows his ambition because he had a year left at Chelsea, but he felt it was the right time to make a break and show that he's ready to play first-team football. "The squad is taking shape and we'll continue to work hard to fill the other spaces." The 22-year-old made just one substitute's appearance in the Premier League for Chelsea and also had loan spells at QPR, Norwich City and Sheffield Wednesday.
