Sir Alex Ferguson and Andre Villas-Boas both criticised the officials after the incident-packed clash at Stamford Bridge. Manchester United manager Ferguson was unhappy with assistant referee Darren Cann's failure to flag for Gary Cahill's first-half challenge on Danny Welbeck and insisted the Chelsea defender should have been sent off. And Chelsea boss Villas-Boas condemned referee Howard Webb's decision to award United a second penalty for Branislav Ivanovic's challenge on Welbeck.
