Show me the money! Chelsea's Drogba tells Marseille to put up or shut up

Didier Drogba has challenged his former club Marseille to make an offer if they really want to lure him from Chelsea. Reports in France claim that the 31-year-old is 'closer than ever' to re-signing for the club he left for west London in 2004 - despite Drogba's continued protestations that he is happy to remain at Stamford Bridge. 'I am a little tired of talking about my future. I have already done many times. I am at Chelsea,' the striker told French newspaper Le Parisien. And while the Ivory Coast international admits he still has a soft spot for Marseille, he indicated the club did not have the financial clout to sign him. 'I've never hidden the fact that I liked Marseille, even before I played for them,' Drogba added in Le Parisien's interview. 'But between what I want and what is practicable, there is a gap. 'If Marseille want me, their bosses should talk to those at Chelsea. But today there is no news.' The 'gap' he talks of has widely been interpreted as the near impossibility of Marseille matching his Stamford Bridge wages of about £125,000 a week. And Sportsmail understands he is on the verge of signing a new three-year deal after new boss Carlo Ancelotti indicated he did not want to discard a player who has previously angered the Chelsea hierarchy.
