Sheva makes Blues pledge
10 Dec 2006 - 12:28:00
Chelsea striker Andriy Shevchenko insists he is happy to fight for his place and would not complain should Blues boss Jose Mourinho decide to drop him.
The Ukraine international has struggled to adapt to the Premiership and his form led Mourinho to omit the £30million striker from his list of "untouchables" earlier in the week.
The 30-year-old marksman admits his performances haven't been up to his own high standard, but would not be looking to leave Stamford Bridge should Mourinho decide to drop him.
"If a player has to be dropped, it has to be accepted," he admitted.
"If the club decides they want to bring in other players, I have no problem. I am staying here.
"I had difficult times also in Milan but I earned my respect there. What I am doing here is working hard to help the team to win.
"My role in the team is the same as it was in Milan - no different. But you need time to adapt to the style of play.
"I have no doubts that when I get into my right form, I will play and my objective is for Chelsea to win something important."
