Chelsea head coach Luiz Felipe Scolari admitted that his side deserved to be beaten, after they suffered a 3-1 Champions League defeat away to Roma.
Scolari pointed to defensive errors which contributed to the Italian side's victory, with the Blues' miserable evening topped off by the late sending-off of midfielder Deco.
"We didn't play well," Scolari said after the loss. "We made mistakes at critical times, we allowed Roma chances and individual mistakes cost us dearly.
"Despite their recent negative results, I knew that Roma have very good players. When you make mistakes like we did they take advantage.
"When you go behind against them, it's difficult to recover, but the only reason we lost was because Roma played better than us.
"When you give away three goals you do worry. You need to think why was this and what we can do in our next game.
"It's true the group is open for all the teams. All of the groups are difficult. We lost one game and there are other teams behind us.
"But we have to win one game and we are there while other teams might need to win two games. We now have two chances to win against Bordeaux and Cluj."
