Schalke consider Mineiro

Mineiro is to link up with Schalke for a trial period following the end of his Chelsea deal. The Brazilian midfielder joined the Blues on a free transfer in September on a contract that lasted for the remainder of the season. He was snapped up after Michael Essien suffered a cruciate knee ligament injury but was rarely called upon under either Luiz Felipe Scolari or Guus Hiddink. Schalke manager Felix Magath is now mulling over whether to make an offer to Mineiro. "Mineiro is able to fill a spot inside our defensive midfield," Magath told the Bundesliga club's official website. "He is versatile in that area. We will take a closer look at him in training in the next couple of days and then decide where we are going to play him." Mineiro has previous experience of playing in Germany, having spent time with Hertha Berlin from 2007 to 2008.
