Salomon Kalou to sign new Chelsea deal

The Ivory Coast striker's current deal is set to run out at Chelsea at the end of the season but the 23 year-old is close to agreeing a new contract.

Kalou was always in Ancelotti's long-term plans, but Fifa's decision to ban the club from signing any new players next year has stepped up the urgency to tie existing players to fresh deals.

The Times report that Kalou is set to join John Terry, Michael Essien, Ashley Cole, Didier Drogba, Florent Malouda and John Obi Mikel in signing a new contract after impressing Ancelotti this season.

Kalou is said to have been offered a new four-year deal worth £60,000 a week - almost double the value of his present deal.

It will be the first contract renegotiation conducted by new chief executive Ron Gourlay.
