Rodgers raves over Pearce
Reading boss Brendan Rodgers believes defender Alex Pearce has similar attributes to England and Chelsea captain John Terry.
Rodgers had nothing but praise for the youngster after he impressed in a 2-2 draw with the Blues in a friendly last Saturday.
"I've said it before, he reminds me of John in a lot of ways. The same number - they've got 26 on their backs - and the same hunger to be better. I thought he was excellent," Rodgers told the club's official website.
"He looked strong but he also played football."
The Scotland Under-21 international is a strong contender for the captain`s armband ahead of Saturday's Championship opener against Nottingham Forest.
"Obviously if the gaffer asked me to be captain then I'd grab it with both hands," said Pearce. "As an individual and as a player, if you're offered the captaincy then he must trust you to do the job."
