REVEALED: Chelsea's plan for coping with transfer ban... snub Carling Cup

Chelsea plan to snub the Carling Cup after their shock transfer ban. The Blues are suspended from signing any players until 2011 after they lured Gael Kakuta away from Lens. Chelsea, who have usually played their strongest side in the Carling Cup, revealed that they will now use the competition to use some of their younger players. They will want to fast-track some youngsters to relieve the pressure on the first-team squad, with no new recruits allowed to join for almost two years. Chelsea face west London rivals QPR in the third round on September 23 but coach Ray Wilkins admits they will rest key players for the derby at Stamford Bridge. 'The Carling Cup is big for us, but I think this year, for one of the first times, we will use some of the younger players in the club,' he said. 'Hopefully we will get a full house against QPR and if some of the young players can force their way in, then all well and good.'
