Real still sweet on Robben
05 Jul 2007 - 15:36:51
Real Madrid president Ramon Calderon has refused to give up hope of luring Chelsea winger Arjen Robben to the Bernabeu this summer.
The 23-year-old's future has been the subject of much speculation, but Chelsea chief executive Peter Kenyon has already claimed he expects the Netherlands international to remain at Stamford Bridge.
But Calderon remains intent on signing either Robben or Chelsea's own transfer target Florent Malouda to bolster their La Liga-winning squad.
"Malouda is a player that (newly-installed technical secretary) Miguel Angel Portugal likes a lot," he told the club's official website.
"But we also have to consider other players that would fit in, like Robben, who has many chances of joining our team."
Earlier on Wednesday, Kenyon refuted claims that the Blues had received offers for either Robben or Barcelona transfer target Frank Lampard.
"I will confirm we've had no offers and if we had offers we wouldn't accept them because they are a core part of our team," he claimed.
