Real still keen on Robben

Real Madrid president Ramon Calderon believes his club are still inching towards landing Chelsea star Arjen Robben, despite the Blues being adamant that the winger is going nowhere.

Robben has reportedly already spoken to Real about a switch to the Bernabeu, despite Chelsea being determined not to let a valued member of their squad move on.

However, Calderon told Marca: "We are advancing in the negotiations.

"Those responsible are doing it very well and I hope that it comes to fruition, but until the agreement is closed we cannot say anything.

"It has to be the selling club who first decides and once that has happened, I don't suppose there will be any problems resolving the player's contract."

Robben, 23, has been with Chelsea for three seasons, scoring 19 goals in 106 appearances since his arrival from PSV Eindhoven.

He sat out the 1-1 friendly draw with Feyenoord, but Blues assistant manager Steve Clarke insisted that was because he is still recovering from a slight knee problem.

"He's got a small problem with his knee," Clarke commented.

"He stayed behind for treatment. It's not major, we've decided to rest him for a week to ten days and he'll be fine after that. He's still a Chelsea player."
