Real confident over Robben
20 Jul 2007 - 08:25:07
Real Madrid coach Bernd Schuster is confident of capturing Arjen Robben from Chelsea before the transfer window closes.
The Netherlands international continues to be linked with the Spanish giants despite Jose Mourinho's insistence that Robben will remain at Stamford Bridge.
The 23-year-old wideman still has two years left on his contract and is currently in negotiations with the Blues hierarchy over extending his stay.
However, Real are confident they can do business with Chelsea and Schuster is adamant the La Liga club "will obtain" Robben.
"I think we'll succeed," the newly-installed coach told Spanish television.
"It doesn't worry me if Arjen arrives tomorrow, or the day after tomorrow, or even if he's not here for the first Liga game, because he's already in pre-season training and thus we won't see any physical problems."
Robben's future at the London club was brought into question following the £13.5million arrival of France international Florent Malouda from Lyon earlier in the month.
But Mourinho is confident the former PSV Eindhoven winger will stay in the Premier League.
"At the moment he is a Chelsea player with two more years of contract and he is working well," the Portuguese coach said earlier in the week.
"For me, he is a player like John Terry or Frank Lampard with two more years of contract."
