Kiss me quick: Mourinho greets the Real fans[LNB]Jose Mourinhoneeds to be moreattack-minded whenhe starts his firstleague season withReal Madrid at Mallorcatomorrow and he knowsit.[LNB]Mourinho relied on pragmaticdefence to win the ChampionsLeague and Serie A with InterMilan last season. [LNB]But this time headmits it must be different. [LNB]'Can I play at Madrid the way Iplayed at Inter?  No, impossible,'says the Portuguese, who starts theseason with the dream of becomingthe first coach to win league titles inEngland (with Chelsea), Italy (withInter) and now with Real in Spain.[LNB]'You cannot turn up somewhereand say, 'This is my football philosophyand this is how we aregoing to play',' says Mourinho.[LNB]'I would like to see Pep Guardiolago to England and try to play theBarcelona way there.' [LNB]Nowhere was Spain's World Cuptriumph celebrated more than inMadrid and that feelgood factor isnow a tailwind blowing Real intothe start of the new season. [LNB]Thousands lined the streets togreet the team bus before their last friendly on Tuesday. Hadthe World Cup itself beenaboard, the welcome could nothave been more vociferous. [LNB]But Mourinho knows thattapping into that atmosphere willmean satisfying supporters'appetites for attacking football.[LNB]'When you build a team, you haveto do so according to the footballingculture you are in and thequalities of the players you have,'he says.[LNB] Watchful eye: Mourinho prepares his players for their assault on La Liga and a personal title treble[LNB]Real broke club goalscoringrecords last season and four of thissummer's six new signings areattacking players. [LNB]That has not stopped Mourinhofrom demanding another forward the No 9 he originally requestedwhen he took over but will probablynot get as the club cuts lastseason's £250million outlay to just£90m this year.[LNB][LNB]MADRID'S NEW MEN Angel Di Mariafrom Benfica, age 22, £20m[LNB]Ricardo CarvalhoChelsea, 32, £6.7m[LNB]Sami KhediraStuttgart, 23, £8.5m[LNB]Mesut OzilW Bremen, 21, £12.4m[LNB]Pedro LeonGetafe, 23, £8.5m[LNB]Sergio CanalesSantander, 19, £4m[LNB]'He will tailor his style to suit theplayers he has at his disposal,' saysCristiano Ronaldo. [LNB]And Real sporting director JorgeValdano adds: 'The fact that wehave signed two creative midfieldersand two wingers since hearrived shows the commitment toattack.' [LNB]Mourinho says: 'There is anobsession for playing attacking, attractive football here. [LNB]They wantto see Madrid win and play well, and so do I.' [LNB]There is of course a 'but'.Attacking players willhave to run as much offthe ball as on it. [LNB]'There are some principles youcannot renounce,' says the coachwho admitted last season that hedidn't just put the bus in front ofthe goal at Barcelona in the secondleg of the Champions Leaguesemi-final, he parked the plane. [LNB]'I've seen Madrid matches wherethey have five players on one sideof the halfway line and five theother side and when they lose theball the five at the back startrunning and the five up front takea breather. That will change.' [LNB]The new ideas are taking time togerminate. And preparations havebeen hampered by injuries to threecentral defenders and late returningstars who were no sooner backfrom the World Cup than theywere whisked off again for an internationalfriendly. [LNB] Get in there: Mourinho will try and emulate his Inter Milan success at Real[LNB]Real are in no shape to take onthe world just yet, but they don'thave to be until the last week inNovember when they travel to theNou Camp for the first of the twogames that should ultimatelydecide the league. [LNB]There was a 26-point differencebetween second and third lastyear and with that third-placedteam, Valencia, having sold DavidVilla and David Silva, the chasmcould widen still further. [LNB]For Mourinho, a point at Barcaand a win in the return fixture thefollowing April, along with a convincingand goal-laden trouncingof the rest, will complete the set ofmajor European league titles hecraves.[LNB] It will also take him twothirds of the way to his three-pointplan for world supremacy.[LNB]'I had three big objectives whenI became a manager and I havealready almost achieved two.' hetold Spanish newspaper El Paisthis week.[LNB] Over here: Mourinho directs new signing Mesut Ozil[LNB] 'No 1 was to win theEuropean Cup with three differentclubs. Another was to be the onlyone who has won the three mostimportant leagues in the world.'[LNB]Ernst Happel and Ottmar Hitzfeld havematched him with twoEuropean Cups for twodifferent clubs. Going one betterwith Madrid would also be deliveringReal's 10th win in the competition. [LNB]He also has the desire tostand alone with his second aim.[LNB]'Fabio Capello has won the Italianand the Spanish, Carlo Ancelottihas won the English and theItalian, and I have won the Englishand the Italian,' said Mourinho. [LNB]Cristiano Ronaldo is ready to play a staring role for Mourinho[LNB]'Capello, if he does not return toclub management, will not getthere. It is just Carlo and me. I don'tknow if Carlo has it among hisobjectives. I want to win all three.' [LNB]Asked about the third aim,Mourinho says: 'I want to give mycountry something that nobodyhas been able to give it a WorldCup or a European Championship, but it won't be easy because I don'tlike the idea of nationalmanagement.'[LNB]The desired return to Englandwill also need to be fitted in somewhere. And when he talks abouthis star turn, Ronaldo, his mindwanders back to the footballculture that still seems to suit himmore than any other.[LNB]Asked why the former ManchesterUnited star was losing his temperwith the referee in this week'sfriendly against Penarol, Mourinhosaid: 'Because he has passedthrough English football and hedoesn't cheat by throwing himselfdown looking for fouls. Andbecause he doesn't do that, thefouls against him are not given.[LNB]'People who have been throughEnglish football and its sense of fairplay tend to be that way. They aremore physical than they are clever. He is noble on the pitch and I amnot going to suggest he changes.'[LNB]Ronaldo looks like being integralto Mourinho's aims, and his formwill also help him keep that otherpromise, of staying on the attack.[LNB] Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson wary of Real Madrid threat as Champions League group draw loomsForget the title Arsene, scoffs Jose, Arsenal are simply not good enoughMourinho: England's World Cup flop was down to players believing hype[LNB]
