    Quickfire return for Terry

    23 Feb 2007 - 14:09:12

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho is hopeful that John Terry will be back in action in a week's time, despite the Blues skipper suffering an ankle injury against FC Porto in midweek.

The 26-year-old England captain was injured during training ahead of the 1-1 draw against Mourinho's former club on Wednesday evening and then lasted just 14 minutes of the game before being carried off on a stretcher.

However, tests and scans on the problem have revealed no serious damage, even though Terry will miss Sunday's Carling Cup final against Arsenal.

Mourinho told reporters: "I think he should be playing next weekend."

The Portuguese had played a rather different tune after the midweek action, saying: "He has injured his ankle ligaments and was not happy when he came off.

"It is unbelievable the injuries we keep getting. We don't have Khalid Boulahrouz and we don't have John Terry. We have one central defender - Ricardo Carvalho."
