PSG made a late bid for Mata in the summer believed to be in the region of £30 million and according to the Express they are ready to return with an improved bid.
Juan Mata has not been first choice this season and his lack of first team football will br worrying with the player looking to make Spain’s World Cup squad. Mata has struggled with fitness this season and Mourinho has wanted Mata to adapt his stle of play.
Chelsea reportedly do not want to let Mata go and a source told the Express “at the moment Cheslse do not want to sell Mata, even if the offer is right”. An offer reportedly of £35 million could be enough to test Chelsea and would provide Mourinho with extra transfer funds.
Mourinho is not short of attacking midfielders with Lampard, Hazard and Oscar who has been the favoured number 10 due to his tackling ability, strength and willingness to track back.
Mata showed against Arsenal in the Captial One Cup this week that he is still a creative force and should be become available there would not be a shortage of offers. Manchester United and Tottenham have been linked with the player in the summer and may rival PSG for his signiture although the riches of PSG could be hard to turn down.
Chelsea yesterday signed 18-year-old wonderkid Bertrand Traore on a four-and-a-half-year deal but is not thought to be ready for first team football as yet but will provide Mourinho will further optionsin midfield in the future.
