Premier League Official Line special with Graham Poll

18 December 2011 22:30
Wolves had every right to complain after Jonathan Woodgate escaped his second yellow card when conceding a 17th-minute penalty. Woodgate had already been cautioned and appeared to expect a second yellow card but referee Anthony Taylor didn't oblige and left the Stoke defender on the field. Tony Pulis substituted Woodgate a minute later, highlighting Taylor's lenient stance.[LNB][LNB] Lucky escape: Jonathan Woodgate was already on a yellow card when he made this desperate lunge on Wolves midfielder Matt Jarvis[LNB]Not Accountable? It was interesting to see Chris Foy refereeing Fulham v Bolton on Saturday after his poor display at Stoke v Tottenham the previous weekend. Other referees have been dropped after a single mistake and Foy's appointment suggests an uneven playing field for referees. At least the game went well for Foy at Craven Cottage.[LNB][LNB]  More from Graham Poll... Graham Poll: How can we be sure men in black won't turn into Christmas turkeys?13/12/11 Graham Poll: I would have booked Shotton for getting shirty12/12/11 Graham Poll: Foy was right to give Spurs penalty but should have given them a second11/12/11 Graham Poll: Spearing was out of control! In the 40th minute the ball was fired in from distance and Branislav Ivanovic handled the ball in clear view of Atkinson. Although Ivanovic's hand was by the side of his body, he had ample opportunity to get the arm out of the way, as he is duty bound to do.[LNB][LNB]Well done What could have been a pivotal decision was really close but assistant referee Andy Halliday did superbly well to allow Scott Dann to score an equaliser for Blackburn from a marginally onside position. Remember that if the forward is level with the second-last defender he is onside and the benefit of the doubt goes to the attacker.[LNB][LNB]Not so good, GarrettManchester United were denied a two-goal lead when assistant referee Andy Garratt incorrectly flagged Danny Welbeck offside. Welbeck, unaware of the flag, continued and beat Radek Cerny easily. It was tight but a decision you'd expect such an experienced official to get right.[LNB][LNB] Flashpoint: Auxerre's Moroccan midfielder Kamel Chafni claims assistant referee Johann Perraux racially abused him [LNB]Wired for sound? There was a disturbing incident in the French League with assistant referee Johann Perraux accused of racially abusing Auxerre's Kamel Chafni. The midfielder complained to the assistant and when he reported the matter to the referee he was sent off. If the officials were using the communication system the case could be proved and the assistant could be struck off the list. [LNB][LNB]Lack of Christmas CheerSky heavily pushed their triple bill on Sunday as a Christmas cracker but it lacked festive cheer. Rio Ferdinand chased Howard Webb and appeared to use foul language while the charmless Craig Bellamy clearly abused Peter Walton. Webb cautioned Ferdinand, Walton did nothing. Great advert for football, lads. [LNB][LNB]Consistently wrongIn an almost identical repeat of Ivanovic's handball, Daniel Agger handled inside his own penalty area yesterday. The ball travelled at pace but Agger's arm moved towards it. Referee Peter Walton gave nothing. We want consistency we got it!
