Ex-Blue plans appeal against being fired by Brighton and Hove Albion

Former Chelsea midfielder Guy Poyet has been sacked as manager of Brighton and Hove Albion FC.

Poyet has been suspended for the past months from the club as a result of alleged misdemeanours, but only heard about tonight's sacking while he was commentating for the BBC on the Nigeria v Spain Confederations Cup match.

Poyet said he will appeal.

The former Uruguay player was a Blues favourite following his signing for Chelsea in 1997.

He played 105 games for the Blues and scored 36 goals before decamping to north London and Spurs in 2001.
