New Blues manager Jose Mourinho will no doubt be backed financially this summer as Chelsea owner, Roman Abramovich, continues to supply an everlasting transfer fund at Stamford Bridge. Chelsea spent heavily last term bringing in top players such as Eden Hazard and Oscar. Another summer of spending is forecasted.

CHELSEA’S POTENTIAL SIGNINGS

Andre Schurrle – Bayer Leverkusen - £20 million

A deal to bring Bayer Leverkusen’s Andre Schurrle to London is reportedly close to completion. Jose Mourinho has identified the German international as a top priority as he looks to bolster his squad for his return season.

The 22 year old himself is confident that a move to Chelsea will be completed however Bayer Leverkusen deny that an agreement has been reached yet. A £20 million transfer fee should be enough to prise the winger to the Premier League.

Edinson Cavani – Napoli - £50 million

Mourinho feels he does not need to completely revamp the squad he has inherited from Rafael Benitez but intends to add some big name signings over the summer.

Edinson Cavani is being courted by many top clubs including Manchester City and Paris Saint Germain. Napoli president, Aurelio de Laurentis, has put a £54 million price tag on his star striker as it looks likely the Uruguayan will depart Naples.

Chelsea are targeting a move for the 26 year old to further bolster their strike force with Fernando Torres and Demba Ba struggling to show their best form. Mourinho feels Cavani will be the perfect addition to add firepower to his forward line and is not deterred by the huge price tag.

Marouane Fellaini – Everton - £24 million

Everton chairman Bill Kenwright has accepted it will be a struggle to keep hold of Everton’s star man Marouane Fellaini. The tall Belgian has been instrumental in The Toffees’ fantastic showing last season and is essential for them to push towards the Champions League places.

However, his £24 million buyout clause is expected to be met this summer as former manager David Moyes has shown an interest in bringing his £15 million signing with him to Old Trafford.

Chelsea are ready to challenge United in any deal as Mourinho seeks to add stability to Chelsea’s midfield; allowing creative midfielders Juan Mata, Eden Hazard and Oscar to flourish.

CHELSEA’S POTENTIAL DEPARTURES

Thibaut Courtois – Belgium – Loan

Thibaut Courtois has greatly impressed whilst playing his trade in Spain with Atletico Madrid on two loan spells. After returning to Chelsea, Courtois is set for yet another spell away on a temporary basis. The 21 year old feels he needs one more season away before challenging Petr Cech for the number one jersey.

Atletico Madrid are yet again interested in tying down a deal for the Belgian international’s third spell for the Belgian international. Chelsea are reportedly demanding a £1 million fee if they wish to secure his services for the third time.

Premier League clubs Fulham, Southampton and Wigan are all interested in offering the former Genk keeper a Premier League destination to gain experience in England.

Romelu Lukaku – Belgium – Loan

Romelu Lukaku’s immediate future is still unclear with Mourinho stating that the striker would be in the first team plans for next season.

The Portuguese coach hasn’t sat down with the Belgian to discuss his options and another loan spell is not out of the question.

Former employers West Brom are interested in a second spell at the Hawthorns but face competition from Premier League sides Swansea and West Ham.

However, Champions League finalists, Borussia Dortmund, have shown a late interest in a loan deal with star striker Robert Lewandowski nearing the exit door.

Fernando Torres – Spain - £20 million

Fernando Torres’ future has been thrown into doubt following Mourinho’s appointment and the club’s firm interest in Napoli hit man Edinson Cavani.

The striker has become the club’s number one target and Torres was offered to the Italian side in a part-exchange which was subsequently rejected by Rafael Benitez’s team.

Fiorentina are set to make a move for either the Spaniard or Manchester City’s Edin Dzeko if they lose their star man, Steven Jovetic, to Arsenal this summer.

Mega rich Russian side, Anzhi, are rumoured to be preparing a bid to bring the 28 year old to Russia to partner former Barcelona striker, Samuel Eto’o in Guus Hiddink’s attack.
