Porto - Alves stays with us

Porto president Pinto da Costa insists Bruno Alves is not for sale amid increased speculation linking him with a move to either Chelsea or Barcelona. The accomplished centre-half is known to have admirers across Europe, with interest thought to have been lodged from both England and Spain. Alves, 27, conceded earlier this month he was tempted by the possibility of a move to Stamford Bridge, while his father, who acts as his agent, has been vocal in his exclamations of an impending exit. However, following talks with the player in the past few days, da Costa, has arrived at the conclusion Alves is to remain in Portugal. Rejecting talk that he has received offers for Alves, the Porto supremo is eager to silence any conjecture with regards a sale. "Bruno Alves is not for sale and the objective is for him to continue as part of our squad," he told Portuguese press. "The club has not received any offers for this player." It is expected Porto will renegotiate the terms of Alves' existing deal in a bid to fend off foreign interest.
