Pizarro to fight for place
Chelsea striker Claudio Pizarro is determined to earn a first-team place at Stamford Bridge despite Werder Bremen's interest in a permanent deal.
The Peru international moved to England in 2007 after leaving Bayern Munich, but he struggled to make an impact in the Premier League.
Last season Pizarro returned to Germany in a loan switch to Werder where he performed with aplomb when scoring 24 times in 40 appearances as the DFB Cup was won.
The 30-year-old is now back with Chelsea and is confident he can impress new manager Carlo Ancelotti.
Pizarro told Sky Sports News: "I have a contract with Chelsea for two more years so for now I will stay here and see what things are coming for me.
"I used to play a lot in Germany and it was good for me. I am trying to get a chance to play in the Premier League squad."
Fierce competition
Competition for places is fierce among Chelsea's eight forwards, but Pizarro is positive regarding his chances.
"Of course it is very complicated, but I am very confident and hope that I get a chance to play," he said.
Werder, though, remain hopeful Pizarro may sign a long-term agreement at the Weserstadion.
The Bundesliga club's general manager Klaus Allofs told Kreiszeitung Syke: "We are still looking out in the transfer market.
"Our spending is not over just yet, we still plan to make signings.
"Claudio Pizarro told us, if he is transferred, he would only be willing to accept a move to Werder Bremen."
