PICTURE SPECIAL: Troubled Terry jets off to Dubai for marriage showdown

Troubled Chelsea captain John Terry began his compassionate leave from the club today and boarded a flight to Dubai for a crunch match with his wife following his alleged affair.

The 29-year-old, who was sacked as England captain last week, is said to be anxious to discover whether his partner Toni will blow the final whistle on their marriage.

The getaway: Terry is whisked straight onto his Dubai bound flight at Heathrow

The mother of two fled last week to Dubai, where she has been pictured on the beach following allegations that her husband had an extra-marital affair with lingerie model Vanessa Perroncel, the ex-partner of England team-mate and Manchester City left-back Wayne Bridge.

Terry, who was singled out for blame following Louis Saha's winner during Wednesday night's 2-1 defeat at Everton, had a serious look on his face as he was escorted to the plane at London's Heathrow airport shortly after 8.30am.

The defender sported a white long-sleeved top that was emblazoned with an image of legendary Hollywood actor Steve McQueen - star of such films as The Great Escape, The Getaway and Bullitt.

He has been allowed to miss Chelsea's FA Cup match against Cardiff this Saturday to take some time off after a series of stories relating to his private life.

Chelsea assistant manager Ray Wilkins said Terry discussed taking a break from club duties with manager Carlo Ancelotti.

The fear: Troubled Terry is set to discover his marriage fate as he leaves London

He said: 'He will not play this weekend. Carlo is giving him a bit of time off.

'He will come back and prepare for our game against Wolves on the 20th.

'They just had a little chat, John and Carlo, and decided that would be the best for all concerned.'
