Published : 09 Nov 2009 15:31:01
The 54 year-old has joined CAA - Creative Artists Agency - as the head of the company's international sports business. He will be involved in representing sportsmen and negotiating media rights. Kenyon hired CAA, which represents the likes of Julia Roberts and George Clooney, last year to work for Chelsea in areas such as stadium development, marketing and branding. However Kenyon, who will be based in the company's London office, yesterday insisted that the CAA job wasn't offered to him until he had decided to leave Chelsea. 'CAA is a great brand and a fantastic platform to take on the world,' Kenyon said. One of the companies CAA works with is Gestifute, a Portuguese sports management company run by the agent Jorge Mendes whose clients include former Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho and a number of leading players such as Cristiano Ronaldo and Ricardo Carvalho. Kenyon also said he had spent the last six months winding down his role at Chelsea and preparing for another job. He was succeeded at Stamford Bridge by Ron Gourlay who immediately announced that the club would be looking to sell the naming rights to their stadium.
