Peter Kenyon looks to Chelsea exit with Manchester City a possible destination

According to a report in the Times Kenyon will consider his future at Stamford Bridge once he has successfully renegotiated Chelsea's shirt sponsorship deal with Samsung. A five-year extension to the deal is expected to be announced this week which will be an improvement on the current £11 million per year arrangement. Kenyon's influence on footballing matters has been peripheral in recent months with his focus more on the commercial aspect of the club's business. He played only a minor part in the appointment of Carlo Ancelotti last month and was away when Luiz Felipe Scolari was sacked in February. With Frank Arnesen's remit having been broadened due to his promotion to sporting director, Kenyon's role of signing first team players will shift to the Dane who was previously only in charge of youth development and scouting. Kenyon did not appear before the media when Ancelotti was unveiled and he is not expected to personally announce the deal with Samsung. Chelsea continue to insist that Kenyon is staying and they have no plans to dismiss him and another job has not been lined up. However, his track record with both Chelsea and United would make him a very marketable commodity and rumours abound that Manchester City may offer him a role should his time at Chelsea come to an end.
