Penalty miss saved us - Drogba

Didier Drogba admits Chelsea would have found it difficult to bounce back had Kevin-Prince Boateng scored Portsmouth's penalty at Wembley.[LNB] Chelsea clinched the League and FA Cup double for the first time in their history thanks to Drogba's 58th-minute winner in Saturday's final at Wembley.[LNB]But that only came after Carlo Ancelotti's side were given a real reprieve when goalkeeper Petr Cech saved Boateng's poor 55th-minute spot-kick.[LNB]Substitute Juliano Belletti brought down Aruna Dindane but Cech guessed right and saved Boateng's penalty with his feet.[LNB]Drogba, who has now scored in six competitive games at Wembley, including three FA Cup finals, felt the Blues would have been down and out had Boateng scored.[LNB]"I thought if they score the penalty it is going to be hard for us to come back," he admitted.[LNB]"That was their chance to win it. It wasn't good for us but Petr came to the rescue once again. That is why, for me, he is among the best goalkeepers in the world.[LNB]"The most important thing was the double. For me to be part of this team makes me proud.[LNB]"This season is the best of my career because I have never won a double before.[LNB]"We were champions last week and now to win the FA Cup at Wembley is the stuff of dreams.[LNB]"The goal record is a nice feeling but the most important thing was winning the double. I am really happy that I helped the team to achieve it. The most important thing was the double and making history. "[LNB]Drogba also revealed how he told his Ivory Coast team-mate Salomon Kalou to forget about one of the worst misses in FA Cup final history.[LNB]Kalou smashed a shot against the bar from just six yards with the goal at his mercy in an opening half which saw Chelsea hit the woodwork five times.[LNB]It was the worst miss since Brighton's Gordon Smith failed to score against Manchester United in the 1983 final from a similar distance.[LNB]"I just said to him to say focused because he would get a second chance, which he did," Drogba said. "Even if you miss you still have to stay focused."
