On-loan Clifford departs Argyle

Midfielder Conor Clifford's loan spell with Plymouth Argyle has come to an end after the League One club were unable to extend it.Clifford joined Argyle from Chelsea in October, making eight appearances. [LNB]Plymouth wanted to extend the 18-year-old's loan until 22 January, but were forbidden from doing so as the club is currently under a transfer embargo. [LNB]"It's a blow," manager Peter Reid told BBC Spotlight. "He's been inspirational as he's a strong player." [LNB]Reid added: "Conor's done fantastic for us. It's a big miss and I'm extremely disappointed but we can't do anything about it we've just got to get on with it." [LNB]Plymouth Argyle are under a transfer embargo because the club is currently the subject of a winding-up petition from HM Revenue & Customs over unpaid taxes.
