Obi's Wembley dream: Chelsea star insists FA Cup glory would make up for European woe

John Mikel Obi insists that lifting the FA Cup on Saturday would provide ample consolation for Chelsea's failure to succeed in the Champions League again this season. The Nigerian midfielder and his team-mates were forced to watch in frustration last night as Barcelona saw off Manchester United to become the new European champions - just weeks after they had been on the verge of going out of the competition at Stamford Bridge in the semi-final second leg. A last-gasp strike from Andreas Iniesta took the Catalan giants through on away goals that night, and they deservedly beat Sir Alex Ferguson's men last night to finish the job, leaving Chelsea followers to wonder what might have been. Some Blues fans have even suggested that the devastating manner of their European exit has rendered this weekend's FA Cup showdown with Everton a worthless cause. However, Obi refuses to agree, and believes that the club's two-year run without a trophy makes victory at Wembley on Saturday just as important as any Champions League success.
