Nicolas Anelka to end career at Chelsea
The much-travelled Anelka hopes to agree an extension to his current Stamford Bridge deal, which runs until 2011.
Anelka has been behind Didier Drogba in the Chelsea pecking order for much of his career at the club. But under Ancelotti the pair have started together in attack, with Anelka thriving under the new regime.

“I wanted to come back to a big club,” Anelka said. “Everything is going well and I don’t need to move any more. I am just glad to help my club and to be here.
“I am very glad to play and to score goals for Chelsea and I hope I will be here for many more seasons. I like being here and enjoy playing with big players. I like playing in the Champions League and want to win everything so I will be pleased to sign for more years here.”
Anelka also confirmed that Chelsea’s main target this season is winning the Champions League, the only major prize to elude them during the Roman Abramovich era.
“It [the Champions League] is very important for us,” Anelka said. “Ancelotti has won it already with [AC] Milan and he knows everything about the Champions League. I think he will help us to do the extra to win it.”
Ancelotti has been impressed with Anelka so far, saying: “Nicolas is a very complete striker. He can play in the centre and on the right and left, he can play behind the striker.”
