Chelsea's England international midfielder Joe Cole will be sidelined until the New Year due to a foot injury.
The 25-year-old has made just three starts this term after injuring a knee during pre-season and his comeback has now been put on hold after he suffered a fresh problem in the 1-1 draw at Manchester United.
A statement on the club's official website confirmed: "Joe Cole will not play again this month after a scan diagnosed a minor stress fracture of the foot.
"Joe had spent the previous two months working back to full fitness following a knee problem, making regular substitute appearances.
"However, following the game at Old Trafford at the end of November, pain in his foot prevented him from taking part in training and bruising was discovered.
"When the pain failed to subside, a scan was carried out."
