    New deal for open Ballack

    31 May 2009 - 11:07:08

Chelsea midfielder Michael Ballack has agreed a one-year contract extension and expects Carlo Ancelotti to be installed as the club's new manager.

Ballack, 32, was out of contract this summer, but is now expected to play on at Stamford Bridge for at least another season.

Speaking after Saturday's FA Cup Final victory over Everton, the Germany captain also revealed that he expected AC Milan coach Ancelotti to be installed as the new Blues boss.

"I haven't signed (the contract) yet but I have agreed for another year," revealed Ballack.

Speaking about the possibility of Ancelotti arriving, he added: "It's not done yet but it looks like he will be coach.

"I haven't worked under him and I don't know him very well but you can see from the work he has done at Milan that he is a successful manager."

Ballack joined the Blues in 2006 and the experienced midfielder is now hoping to use the FA Cup success as a springboard to further silverware.

He added: "Next year we want to win it (the Premier League) again. We know that (Manchester) United are a very very good team and they have a good year behind them so it will not be easy.

"They have won it three years in a row which is a big thing, they can play with confidence and it looks like it is getting easier for them.

"But we have showed this season, especially in the Champions League, that we can play really good football too."
