Chelsea midfielder Michael Essien has signed a new five-year contract with the club and is looking forward to helping the Blues win even more trophies.
The 24-year-old Ghana international will remain at Stamford Bridge until the end of the 2011-12 campaign after being a virtual ever-present for the club this season.
He told the club's official website: "It didn't take me long to decide to sign.
"I am really happy because I came here to stay a long time. I really work hard in training and do everything to succeed. I have the ambition to win a lot of trophies for the club."
Essien has made 88 appearances for Chelsea since his £24.4million switch from Lyon in August 2005.
