He befriended Sir Bobby Robson at Porto in 1994 when the pair lived in the same apartment block and he enrolled in the FA's coaching school at Lilleshall aged 17. He completed his Uefa C badges in the Scottish town of Largs, despite being officially too young. The following year he obtained his B licence. [LNB]British Virgin Isles 2000-01Villas-Boas was appointed technical director, having concealed his age at interview. He lost both competitive games to Bermuda - 9-0 and 5-1. Became head of Jose Mourinho's Opponent Observation Department when he was appointed manager in 2002.[LNB]Chelsea 2004-07Moved to Stamford Bridge with Mourinho and fulfilled the same role, scouting opponents. Proved innovative in using computer and video technology to brief coaches and players. [LNB]Inter Milan 2008-09Appointed to Inter's backroom staff as scout after Mourinho's arrival as manager. Helped the club win the Serie A title, but Inter failed to make an impression in the Champions League.[LNB]Académica 2009-10Irritated Mourinho by walking out to take over at the Portuguese strugglers in October.
