Mourinho takes a leaf out of Clough's book, blasting Inter's 'lucky' league titles

Home truths: Mourinho An apoplectic Jose Mourinho labelled his Inter Milan players 'a pile of s***' in an x-rated dressing room rant following Saturday's 'awful' 3-1 reverse at the hands of mid-table Atalanta. The self-professed 'Special One' was overheard tearing shreds off his side - who currently lie three points clear at the top of Serie A - by Italian newspaper La Repubblica. With echoes of Brian Clough's ill-fated 44 day reign at 'dirty' Leeds United, Mourinho questioned the validity of the three successive league titles won by the Nerazzuri between 2006-08. 'You won a Scudetto in the court, the second because there was no competition and the third was won at the last minute. You are all a pile of s**t,' Mourinho is alleged to have said in a transcript published in La Repubblica. Mourinho's unswerving loyalty to Chelsea players became a trademark of his three-year reign, but after hurling a notebook into a bin at Stadio Azzurri d'Italia, the Portuguese was less than complimentary of his current charges. 'I can't explain it,' an exasperated Mourinho told the assembled press, as Inter continued 2009's winless run in the league. 'I should keep quiet and let the sports press use any adjective they want, which I must accept, given my team played such an awful match.' The Damned United: Clough (pictured front left suring 1974's bad-tempered Charity Shield) was equally scathing of his Leeds players in 1974. The plain speaking Clough cited attributed the plethora of trophies won under adversary Don Revie to 'cheating' It seems time is a great healer, however, with Mourinho changing his tune after Wednesday's 2-1 victory at the San Siro over Roma in the Coppa Italia. 'This victory is a very good reaction to the defeat we suffered on Sunday in Bergamo,'  Mourinho said. 'When we play in that fashion, everything is better - both on and off the field. For this reason I am happy and so are the players as we don't like to lose.'   More...
