Milan reject major Pato bid

AC Milan have turned down a 'monumental' offer for Alexandre Pato and have again stressed they have received no offers for Andrea Pirlo. Chelsea have been strongly linked with an interest in both the young Brazilian forward and Italy's World Cup-winning playmaker. With former Rossoneri boss Carlo Ancelotti now in charge at Stamford Bridge there has been inevitable speculation that the Italian coach is keen to bring some of his former charges to the Premier League. Milan did not identify the side who made an offer for Pato, who they are keen to keep at the San Siro to fill the void left by the departure of fellow countryman Kaka to Real Madrid. "Milan this year has resisted a monumental offer for Pato," said Milan managing director Adriano Galliani. "But I will not say which club made the offer." Galliani has reiterated that no approaches have been made for Pirlo, and was prepared to name the Premier League club in this instance. "We have not received any offers for Pirlo, not from Chelsea or any other club," he stated. Galliani also rejected reports from Spain that they are eyeing Real Madrid midfielder Fernando Gago as a possible replacement. "Pirlo is a Milan player," added Galliani. "Hence, Gago cannot be our aim. "If Pirlo leaves then we will see."
