Milan confirm Blues' Kaka bid
20 Jul 2008 - 11:53:20
AC Milan have confirmed that Chelsea have made a bid for Kaka, but revealed they rejected the approach for the Brazil star.
The 26-year-old reigning world player of the year was reported to have been the target of a record £70million bid from the Blues.
New Chelsea coach Luiz Felipe Scolari is believed to have made the attacking midfielder his top transfer target after taking the reins at Stamford Bridge.
Kaka's personal assistant, Diogo Kotscho, also fanned the speculation after suggesting the midfielder was likely to move to London this summer.
However, the Rossoneri's vice-president Adriano Galliani claims his club has no intention of selling Kaka this summer despite their recent capture of fellow playmaker and compatriot Ronaldinho.
"Chelsea want Kaka?" said Galliani. "It's true - they have made a conspicuous offer - but I won't tell you how much it is.
"President (Silvio) Berlusconi basically says no to Kaka (leaving), just as he did when Real Madrid wanted (Andrei) Shevchenko in 2001."
