Philippe Mexes has dismissed talk that he will leave Roma this summer after he indicated he was happy at the club. The 27-year-old was linked with a move to Chelsea just a few weeks ago with Blues manager Carlo Ancelotti a keen admirer of the defender having tried to sign him during his time at Milan. Despite insisting that no bid had been lodged, the player's agent Olivier Joanneaux admitted that the Frenchman would consider a switch to Stamford Bridge. Mexes however is adamant that he is content with life in the Italian capital despite Roma failing to mount a title challenge last term. "I will remain at Roma," he said. "It always gives me great pleasure when a team is interested in me but I am happy at Roma." The France international added that he felt the need to help the club better last season's disappointing sixth placed finish, with the former Auxerre ace now expected to see out the remainder of his two-year contract with the Giallorossi. "Last season was the worst one in my five years at Roma," he confirmed. "I wouldn't want to leave the club like this. I want to prove my worth."
