Mata signs for Blues

Modric deal is dead in the water Chelsea has signed attacking midfielder Juan Mata from Valencia. In a statment, Chelsea says: "An agreement has been reached with Valencia CF for the transfer to Chelsea of midfielder Juan Manuel Mata. "The move is now subject to the player passing a medical and agreeing personal terms." Chelsea will fork out £23m for the 23-year-old who has landed a four-year-deal. The move effectivly ends Chelsea's interst in Spurs's Luka Modric as the Blues became exasperated at the north Londoner's refusal to do business.
