Marseille v CHELSEA: Nicolas Anelka and Ashley Cole rested by Blues

Chelsea will be without striker Nicolas Anelka and left-back Ashley Cole for Wednesday's Champions League Group F game against Marseille.

Both have been rested by coach Carlo Ancelotti while midfielders Yury Zhirkov (calf) and Frank Lampard (groin and adductor) have not recovered fully.

Brazilian defender Alex (knee) joins midfielder Yossi Benayoun (achilles) as a long-term absentee.

Italian midfielder Jacopo Sala, who turned 19 on Sunday, is included in the squad for an away Champions League game for the first time.

Right-back Billy Clifford, 18, is also included along with fellow youngsters Josh McEachran, Gael Kakuta, Patrick van Aanholt and Jeffrey Bruma.
