A 1-0 win for the French champions over Chelsea in the Champions League last week marked an emotional return to the club Drogba reluctantly left for Stamford Bridge back in 2004.
Back on the old stamping ground: Drogba lines up against Marseille in the Champions League
Asked about a reports Marseille tried to re-sign the 32-year-old in the summer, Deschamps admitted to French TV: 'Yes. It's complicated. Maybe one day he will return, but with each year that goes by, it is going to get more and more complicated.'
No go: Fanni is stuck in limbo at Rennes
More pressing is clinching a deal for 29-year-old right back Rod Fanni, who is also wanted by Liverpool.
Deschamps is convinced the France international would rather join Marseille than move to England, but there is still haggling over the £3million fee for a player who is out of contract at the end of the season.
'I do not know if it will happen in the coming hours, but in the coming days? Hopefully,' said the former Chelsea midfielder. 'He wants to come. I think my bosses will do what is necessary for that to happen.'
