Mancienne fits the Barca bill for Hiddink

Tough task: Michael Mancienne. Guus Hiddink last night admitted that Michael Mancienne is in line for a surprise role marking Lionel Messi in Barcelona next Tuesday. Sportsmail revealed yesterday that the defender played at left back in a reserve game on Monday and he did enough to convince Chelsea's interim manager that he is worthy of consideration. Mancienne, 21, will be on the bench against Everton tonight, but Hiddink may play him at left back in the second half as he prepares for the Champions League semi-final, first leg at the Nou Camp. With Ashley Cole suspended, Juliano Belletti appeared the likely replacement but Hiddink said: 'Mancienne is an option to play left back against Barcelona.'
