Manchester United's Nemanja Vidic ready for Fernando Torres test
Manchester United captain Nemanja Vidic has refused to write off Chelsea's misfiring strikers ahead of Wednesday night's Champions League showdown at Stamford Bridge.[LNB]Despite costing almost ?100million between them, the Blues' forwards have scored a grand total of just three goals in the past two months.[LNB]Fernando Torres has not found the net at all following his record-breaking ?50million move from Liverpool in January but Vidic will not take the threat of him, Didier Drogba, Nicolas Anelka and Salomon Kalou lightly.[LNB] Game on: Vidic is refusing to take his rival Fernando Torres lightly, despite the Chelsea striker's goal drought[LNB]'We have respect, obviously, for their attacking players,' said the Serbia defender, who will lead United out in the quarter-final first leg.[LNB]'It doesn't matter if they didn't score a goal. They will try to score and they will give their best.[LNB]'This is two games and, at the end of the day, it's most important who will go through and not who will score the goals.'[LNB]If United's defence goes into the kind of meltdown they suffered in the first half of Saturday's Barclays Premier League win at West Ham, even Chelsea's forwards will fancy their chances.[LNB]Making his first club appearance for almost a month after injury, Vidic had a shocker in the first half and was lucky to stay on the field.[LNB]Having also been sent off in last month's controversial Premier League defeat against Chelsea, the 29-year-old has a point to prove this week.[LNB]'The defending part, we need to improve a bit more and we'll be all right,' admitted Vidic, who has yet to taste victory at Stamford Bridge since joining United five years ago.[LNB]Indeed, the centre-back admits Chelsea's recent successes against United may give them a psychological advantage on Wednesday.[LNB] On a high: Vidic says his United team-mates are boosted by Saturday's brilliant comeback win over West Ham[LNB]'Maybe, in terms of the results,' he said. 'In the last few games, they had good results.[LNB]'But this is the Champions League and we have to score a goal - this is the name of the game for us. It helps for the next game.'[LNB]United go into Wednesday's match on a high after producing a trademark late comeback at Upton Park to edge closer to the Premier League title, although the threat of a two-game ban for Wayne Rooney now hangs over the club.[LNB]'Of course, it's much better when you win the game and go to the next Champions League game,' Vidic said. 'But I don't think our concentration will be different.[LNB]'We're not going to relax, we know we're playing against a good side, especially at home.
