Manchester City's Robinho could be dropped

The Guardian[LNB]claims City manager Mark Hughes is so frustrated with Robinho's erratic performances he will replace Robinho with Martin Petrov once the Bulgarian returns from a knee injury at the end of the month. [LNB]Robinho's City future is in doubt after a troubled first season at the club. Excellent in a number of home matches, he has been a virtual passenger in many away games, and was disciplined by the club following an unsanctioned trip to Brazil in January. [LNB]A report in the Sun says Chelsea remain interested in Robinho, but were unimpressed by his lacklustre display at Stamford Bridge on Sunday, were City were defeated 1-0. [LNB]The paper quotes a Chelsea source saying: 'Robinho has to pull his finger out otherwise he can forget about any move.' [LNB]In public at least, Hughes has defended the winger, saying after the Chelsea defeat: 'Robinho's general performances have been good. [LNB]"He's scored 11 league goals and had a real impact. All our attackers struggled against Chelsea so it is unfair to pinpoint him.' [LNB]
