Manchester City 5 Chelsea 3: match report

Manchester City capped their week-long trip to the United States with a 5-3 victory against Chelsea in Rafael Benitez's final game in charge of the London club in New York. In front of a 39,462 crowd at the Yankee Stadium, the Premier League runners-up came out on top in a game which was high on entertainment and low on defensive quality. But with eye-catching goals from Samir Nasri and Edin Dzeko embellishing City's win, the squad flew back to England having lifted the mood of the club in the wake of Roberto Mancini's sacking as manager two weeks ago. City had already made a success of their Stateside trip by gaining widespread publicity for their move into the MLS with New York City FC prior to Thursday's dramatic 4-3 victory against the Europa League winners in St Louis.
