Makelele exit talk cools

Chelsea midfielder Claude Makelele is not about to leave Stamford Bridge, according to the player's agent.

Reports from France had suggested the 34-year-old was unhappy to be offered only a 12-month contract extension by the Blues and was keen to leave the Premiership giants in the summer.

However Makelele's agent, Jaime Ladjemi, told skysports.com: "Claude has not decided anything.

"We have not negotiated as yet, but at the end of the season we will talk with Chelsea chief executive Peter Kenyon.

"Claude has one year to run on his current deal and he would prefer another two years. He is happy at Chelsea and his preference is to stay there.

"Claude is not concerned about his future as he is only concentrating on all the big games Chelsea have coming up."

Makelele has made 172 appearances since moving to the Blues from Real Madrid in summer 2003.
