Northampton Town have brought in Chelsea's versatile defender Carl Magnay on a one-month loan deal.[LNB] Magnay was the winner of Sky's Football Icon show back in 2006, but has yet to make a first-team impact at Chelsea.[LNB]He recently made two appearances on loan at Milton Keynes Dons and will have another chance to build up his experience in League One with Northampton.[LNB]The 20-year-old will be in the squad for Tuesday's game at Millwall and Cobblers boss Stuart Gray is happy with his loan signing.[LNB]Versatility"Carl can play anywhere along the back four and he can also sit in the midfield," Gray told the club's official website.[LNB]"He will give us more competition for places and as with Jason Crowe and Danny Jackman he will give us versatility. Any of those lads can play at the back or come out and play in midfield and it is important we have those options.[LNB]"We've got a lot of games still to play this season and with the window shutting later this month it is important that we make sure that we are not thin on the ground."[LNB]
