Luka Modric to move to Chelsea or Manchester

Luka Modric moved from Tottenham Hotspur to Real Madrid in the summer of 2012, for a fee of £33 million. However, he has only received eight starts and scored only 1 goal in all competitions after he has struggled to cope with life in the Spanish capital. He was even voted the worst signing in La liga of 2012 having joined in August.

He was wanted by both Manchester clubs and Chelsea during the summer, but the Croatian's heart was with Real Madrid. However, the 27 year old has claimed that he would consider a move back to the Premier League but he is not ruling out the idea of staying at Real Madrid until at least the summer. Although the summer may see the exit for him if he doesn't receive enough game time.

Chelsea wanted the ex-Tottenham player during the season of 2011-2012, but Spurs refused to sell him. Although, with Lampard expecting to leave the blues in the summer it could pave the way for Modric, but due to the lack of form, price tag and abundance if midfielders in the Chelsea camp, it may be too much of a risk.Sir Alex Ferguson has kept an eye on the midfielder since 2010 and looked to sign him in the summer of 2011 but Spurs once again refused. With injuries hitting United's midfield, it could mean that Fergie is willing to splash out the cash for the Croatian.

Roberto Mancini hasn't been a big fan of the playmaker but the Italian has been wanting to sign a few more players in the January transfer window, to strengthen the club and Luka Modric may fit right into his plans. Despite these rumours of Modric leaving, Real Madrid are still trying to negotiate a £60 million move for Gareth Bale.
