Liverpool open talks with Chelsea over Daniel Sturridge
The England international has been heavily linked with a move away from London after being pushed down the pecking order by Fernando Torres and has refused to open talks over a new deal, a sure sign of his determination to leave with Liverpool being the most likely destination.
Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers will be looking for the full backing of the Red's co-owners John Henry and Tom Werner as he looks to add more attacking threat to his side in the form of £15 million rated Sturridge and will hope the a deal can be concluded in the first week of the January transfer window to avoid a repeat of the problems he endured in the summer.
Brendan Rodgers has made it clear on several occasions that he will be looking to bring two or three new faces to Anfield, with a striker being at the top of his shopping list after being left with very few options upfront after Andy Carroll was sent on loan to West Ham. Rodgers was hoping to bring in former Fulham star Clint Dempsey during the summer but was denied the money to buy the USA international, who then joined Spurs instead.
Chelsea are looking to find a suitor for Sturridge as they try to raise funds for Atletico Madrid sensation Radamel Falcao and with the Chelsea youngster's contract running down they don't want the player leaving on a free at the end of next season.
