Chelsea have placed Hamburg-bound scout Lee Congerton on gardening leave after it was revealed he is set to follow sporting director Frank Arnesen to Germany.
Congerton, Chelsea's head of senior scouting, was told last Friday not to report to work any more as Roman Abramovich continues to shake-up his backroom team.
Sporting director Arnesen will step down when his contract expires and has become a more peripheral figure, increasingly absent from the club's Surrey training complex.
The Dane has accepted the sporting director's role at Hamburg and will take Congerton, formerly academy director at Wrexham, with him as technical director.
